He also designed Palazzo Vecchio and the church of Santa Croce. Giotto continued work on the cathedral after di Cambio's death but the design remained unchanged. Next to Brunelleschi is this statue of di Cambio, also contemplating his masterpiece.

These are actually reproductions, placed in 1990 after it was determined that the originals were deteriorating. The originals are housed nearby in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, each panel preserved in a special glass container.
